For those unfamiliar with the Mutton Bustin’ event, you have to see it first hand to appreciate it. Kids ages five to seven and 55 pounds or lighter are eligible to compete. Each contestant is judged upon the skill demonstrated as he or she attempts to stay aboard a sheep for the required six seconds. Kids are outfitted with protective head gear and will receive assistance from event organizers as well as the one parent that is allowed to accompany them. A pair of Justin Boots will be awarded to the winner of Mutton Bustin'.

The winner of this year's competition (one girl and one boy) are entered into the PRCA Ak-Sar-Ben’s River City Roundup Regional Mutton Bustin Contest, so the winners will go on to the Regional Competition!! The winner crowned will have the opportunity to compete against the champions from other rodeos across the region in this tournament! Regionals are Saturday, Sept. 24th in Omaha, NE during the Ak-Sar-Ben Rodeo.
