DAYTON RODEO FLAG CARRIERS
2021 Dayton Rodeo American Flag Carrier - Lynne Heckman
Welcome to the 2021 Dayton Championship Rodeo!
I’m Lynne Heckman and I will be presenting the American Flag at this year’s rodeo.
I have been involved with the Dayton Rodeo
since 2007 when I joined the Serpentine Riders drill team. I performed with the team for 8 years and coached the team for 4 years. In addition to drill team, I have sung the National Anthem,
carried sponsor flags, rode in the parade, and served as secretary of the Dayton Rodeo Celebration Committee.
One week after being selected to carry the American Flag for the 2020 rodeo, the rodeo was cancelled due to COVID. It’s been a long year to wait, but I’m very excited to finally be presenting the American Flag at the 2021 Dayton Championship Rodeo!
2021 Dayton Rodeo Iowa Flag Carrier - Bethany Jo Thurston
Welcome rodeo fans, my name is Bethany Jo Thurston. My love for the sport of rodeo and skill set as a welder have taken me from the Badlands of North Dakota to the stockyards of Central Texas. The great state of Iowa has always welcomed me home with open arms and I’m proud to present to you the Iowa flag. As a long time Dayton Wranglers member, I stay active by presenting the American flag for the Match of the Broncs series, working the cook shack, competing in cattle sorting competitions, and donating my time for lessons to riders of all ages. My goal is to emphasize safety, horsemanship, sportsmanship, goal setting, and self respect, in hopes that the students will apply the lessons in all aspects of life. Great competition and fellowship are two things I most enjoy as a member of the Iowa Ranch Horse Association. I am the proud mother of my two year old son, Bodey Wade Thompson, and a welder for Midstates Material Handling and Fabrication in Nevada, Iowa.
I would like to thank each and everyone in attendance for keeping this small town rodeo alive and rich in tradition. A very special “Thank You” to my mother for her unwavering encouragement, support, and love.
Enjoy the rodeo!
